Prof. Luca Brandt receives Ferrari Panetti Award

Published Nov 21, 2022

The Accademia delle Scienze di Torino  has awarded our colleague Prof. Luca Brandt the prestigious Ferrari Panetti Award . The Commission awarded the prize with the following motivation: “Luca Brandt graduated in Mechanical Engineering at the Sapienza University of Rome in 1997 and obtained his PhD in Fluid Mechanics at KTH in 2003. He is currently full professor of Fluid Mechanics at the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) in Stockholm (Sweden) since 2012 and holds the International Chair in Fluid Mechanics at the Norwegian University for Science and Technology (NTNU) in Trondheim (Norway) since 2021. Luca Brandt stands out in many areas of Fluid Mechanics with particular regard to multiphase turbulence (transport of sediments, emulsions and heat and mass transfer), low-Reynolds number complex flows and hydrodynamic stability with applications for flow control. Luca Brandt's research activity finds applications of interest both for the environment and for industrial productions”.

Ferrari Panetti Award is an international award, granted every two years to a scientist who has distinguished himself/herself in the field of Applied Mechanics in the broadest sense over the last decade. It was established in 1998 through the merge of the Panetti Prize Fund with the legacy that the national member prof. Carlo Ferrari left the Academy for this purpose on his death (1996).
