The “Long Pipe” in CICLoPE is shaping up

Published Oct 26, 2017

CICLoPE (Centre for International Cooperation in Long Pipe Experiments) is an international cooperation between several research institutions intended to conceive new infrastructures for the study of high-Reynolds number turbulence.

The first of these infrastructures is the Long Pipe, which is basically a large-scale wind-tunnel designed to generate a naturally developed turbulent pipe flow that allows fully-resolved measurement of wall-turbulence at high-Reynolds number.

This week the test section of the Long Pipe in CICLoPE has been produced. This is an important milestone towards the completion of the facility.
