Registration  (closed)

The course is free of charge, and includes lunches, the conference dinner and accommodation (youth hostel). Travel is not supported by FLOW and up to the participants. Interested PhD students are invited to contact Philipp Schlatter, pschlatt@mech.kth.se. For further information and registration visit the homepage of the Linné FLOW Centre (http://www.flow.kth.se). The number of participants is limited to 50 students.

Practical Information

For the practical sessions, the participants are encouraged to use their own laptops (i.e. we will not have any lab sessions in computer rooms). Therefore, please make sure that you bring your laptop. The softwares to be used are, depending on the session, simple codes in Fortran, Matlab/Octave, or C; visualisation can be done for instance in gnuplot or Matlab. Therefore, it would be most suitable if you could make sure that your laptop has an installation of these softwares. The easiest is if you have a working Linux (for instance Ubuntu, can be installed without problems alongside Windows), together with gfortran, gcc, gnuplot and octave. KTH has a site-license for Matlab, so all KTH-affiliated people will be able to use Matlab.

In the lecture room there will be EDUROAM wireless network available. Therefore make sure that you know your EDUROAM username/network secret before you arrive in Stockholm.

Please take your student ID card with you as we have ordered the lunches based on student prices.

Accommodation

We have reserved rooms for all external participants (i.e. non-FLOW) in the hostel 2kronor Hostel - Vasastan, Surbrunnsgatan 44, 113 48 Stockholm, Phone: +46 8 229 230 (www.2kronor.se, for maps etc.). The reception is open for CHECK-IN between 15:00 and 18:00. If you arrive late please contact the hostel two days in advance for access codes to front door. We have also reserved bed linen for you, so there is no need to bring your own linen. You will be sharing rooms (either double or triple rooms). You are responsible on your own to arrive at the hostel, and arrange for getting the keys etc. (see above).

From the hostel you can reach KTH by walking (10 minutes); alternatively you can take busses 4 or 72 from Odenplan to Östra Station/Tekniska Högskolan.

From the airport, there are essentially three possibility to reach the Stockholm centre:

  1. use the Train: Arlanda Express. For students the ticket is about 130 SEK, but you can only buy it at the counter.
  2. use the Bus: Flygbussarna. The ticket is 99 SEK.
  3. use public transportation: www.sl.se. If you have a ticket for the public transport you can also travel for free. First use bus number 583 from Arlanda to Märsta, and then commuter train (pendeltåg) J36 from Märsta to the Central Station (Centralen).

From Skavsta Airport, you will need to take the Flygbussarna.
