Heat transfer in rotating Couette flows

Abstract. It is well known that rotation strongly affects the turbulence and momentum transfer in Couette flows. In this seminar, I will show through DNS that rotation also strongly affects the heat transfer in plane Couette and Taylor-Couette flows. An important result is that for certain rotation rates heat transfer is much faster than momentum transfer, clearly in violation of the Reynolds analogy. This difference can be understood by considering the effect of the Coriolis force.
