Prof. Outi Tammisola has received an ERC Consolidator Grant

Our FLOW colleague Prof. Outi Tammisola has received an ERC Consolidator Grant INTER-ET in the 2024 call. In this round, 328 researchers (14 from Sweden) out of 2300 applicants were awarded European Research Council (ERC) Consolidator grants. These grants, totalling €678 million, aim to support outstanding scientists and scholars as they establish their independent research teams and develop their most promising scientific ideas.

Prof. Tammisola will use synergetic advanced HPC and new experimental tools as part of the INTER-ET project to measure microstructure simultaneously with the flow in elasto-inertial turbulence. Elasto-inertial turbulence occurs in viscoelastic and other complex fluids at low to moderate Reynolds numbers where the flow or Newtonian fluid is laminar.

Prof. Tammisola already has an ERC-Starting Grant MUCUS on yield-stress fluids, which runs until August 2025.
